Duxbury Photo of the Month — Official Rules (October 2026)

Sponsor. Our Town Heritage, an independent hometown shop (“we”, “us”).

What it’s about. Share a photo of Duxbury: a familiar face, a local tradition, a favorite place or an everyday moment, from this year or long ago. An entry is a photo with an optional caption and year. The community votes for the photo that best captures the heart of Duxbury.

No purchase necessary. A purchase does not increase your chance of winning. Void where prohibited.

Eligibility. Open to legal residents of the United States who are 18 or older at the time of entry. Our employees and their households are not eligible. One account per person. Throwaway (disposable) email addresses can't be used to create an account.

Entry and voting period. October 1, 2026 at 12:00 AM CDT until 11:59:59 p.m. CDT on October 31, 2026, when entries and voting close.

How to enter. Sign in with a free account (Facebook, Google or email) that has a confirmed email address, so we can reach you if you win (an account made with Facebook adds and confirms an email first). Then upload one photo per entry at https://duxburyma.ourtownheritage.com, add a caption and the year if you like, and tick “I agree to the Contest Rules”. Up to 3 entries per person. All entry and voting happens on our website. You never have to share, tag or like anything on Facebook or Instagram to enter or vote.

Your photo. By ticking “I agree to the Contest Rules” you confirm that you took the photo yourself, or have permission from the person who took it or owns it, and that it isn’t copied from a newspaper, studio, book or website. Anyone recognisable in the photo must have agreed to it being shared. Your caption must be your own words; we show it as you wrote it. We review every entry before it appears publicly and may decline any entry.

Permission. By entering you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to show your photo and caption, with credit, on our websites and social media for this contest (the gallery, voting, the winners’ announcement, and posts and ads about the contest) and in the Duxbury Through the Years archive. We never make prints from your photo unless we ask you first and you say yes. We never use it on merchandise, and you keep ownership of your photo.

Credit. Your entry is credited the way your account is set: first name and last initial, full name, or “A neighbor” if you hide your name or haven’t added one. You can change it any time in the account menu.

Voting. You need a free account to vote (no confirmed email needed). Each account gets one vote per day in this contest; the day resets at midnight Central time. You can change that day’s vote as often as you like until midnight; your last choice counts. Votes from earlier days stay as they were, and votes add up across days. You may vote for your own entry, with the same one vote per day. Only approved entries can receive votes, and only during the voting period. Vote counts are shown live on each entry. We may disregard votes we believe are automated, fraudulent or cast from duplicate accounts.

How winners are chosen. The entry with the most valid community votes when voting closes wins. Before announcing, we check only eligibility under these rules and vote fraud. We do not judge photos or stories, and no automated quality score is used. If an entry is withdrawn or disqualified, its votes are removed from the count, anyone whose vote that day went to it can vote again that day, and the next entry by votes moves up.

Ties. If entries tie for a prize place, the entry that reached the tied total first ranks higher. “Reached” means the moment its vote count last changed to that final total.

Prize. One winner: $25, issued as store credit for the Duxbury Town Boutique on https://duxburyma.ourtownheritage.com (a single-use code; any unused balance on that order lapses; no cash value). This amount is fixed for this round. When claiming, a winner may also say yes to prints of their photo (optional). Prints carry their credit, and they get a share of each print sale as store credit. Photos are never used on merchandise.

Announcement and contact. Winners are announced on the Duxbury page of our website and on our Duxbury Facebook Page with their entry code and the credit they chose (for example a first name and last initial, or “A neighbor”). We contact winners through the email on their account or the contact they gave when entering, and we email every entrant once at their account email when the winners are announced.

Claiming. Winners have 14 days from our first message to claim the prize using their private claim link and entry code. If a prize is not claimed in time, it goes to the next eligible entry by votes. Winners give a mailing address to receive their gear, and may also receive a congratulations card from our family of brands (Be Thoughtful / Mr. Handled).

Privacy. We use entrant and voter information only to run this contest, prevent fraud, contact winners and tell entrants who won. Entering doesn’t sign you up for any newsletter. We never sell or share it. See our privacy policy for how accounts and deletion work.

Removing your photo. You can ask us to remove your entry at any time. Deleting your account (in the account menu) removes your photos from public pages.

General. We may cancel or modify the contest if fraud, technical failure or other causes beyond our control affect it; any change is posted as a dated amendment below these rules. Winners are responsible for any taxes. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Meta/Facebook/Instagram.
